Commitment to Quality Canine Training
Over the years, since the inception of Artisan Dog Training in 2008, my dedication to providing top-notch service animals has only deepened. Recognizing a significant need for affordable service animals that excel in real-world scenarios, I embarked on a mission to make quality training accessible to all. I've witnessed the demand for service animals that can perform seamlessly in public, undeterred by distractions and boasting a low failure rate.
Acknowledging the vital role these companions play, I set out on what I anticipated would be a challenging journey. A service dog, is a specially trained pooch dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities, be it anxiety, blindness, autism, PTSD, diabetes, seizures, and the like. Now, here's the crucial bit – these service dogs must actively perform tasks that help alleviate the challenges of the disability. Keep in mind, that a dog whose primary purpose is to offer comfort through their delightful company doesn't quite make the cut as a service dog. That role is reserved for our sweet Emotional Support Animals (ESAs). While ESAs are wonderful companions, it's essential to understand that they don't hold the key to public access rights.
Occupational Therapist assistant and Therapy Dog
Meet Cheyenne, a truly extraordinary canine in every sense! First and foremost, she was handpicked from a special litter and received the finest personal guidance from yours truly. Her journey began at a tender age of 7 weeks with training that's as unique as she is. What sets her apart even more is her role as a devoted assistant to her mom, who happens to be an Occupational Therapist. Not only that, Cheyenne spreads joy and comfort as a Therapy dog in nursing homes and medical facilities.
Cheyenne boasts an impressive resume, having achieved her therapy dog certification and soon adding a CGC title to her list of accomplishments. Her dedicated mom, with a vision of having an exceptional furry companion, continues to refine both her handler skills and Cheyenne's home environment to optimize their incredible bond. This remarkable pup doesn't just work near medical equipment; she excels in assisting those with special needs. Witnessing the sheer joy she brings during her visits is nothing short of heartwarming. The connections she fosters with patients, and the growing excitement with every visit, is a testament to the uplifting impact Cheyenne has on those around her. Her accomplishments are truly something to celebrate! |
Service dog for Rett syndrome
My introduction to Winston was quite special. His parents reached out to me with a unique request to train him as a service dog. What makes Winston's story even more heartwarming is that he was generously donated by a family friend who recognized the potential for him to be a wonderful companion for service training.
While many service dogs are purposefully bred for their roles, Winston stood out because he effortlessly met my minimum training requirements and displayed an innate ability to assist Peyton with her disability right from the start. Peyton, being non-verbal with multiple challenges, required a companion capable of playing, assisting, and providing comfort when needed. Winston's skill set includes on-leash, off-leash, and service assistance training. After thoughtful consultations with the family, we tailored his assistance behaviors to include redirecting Peyton when upset, comforting her during challenging moments, activating handicap accessible doors, and ensuring he locates her if she wanders away. In addition, I initiated retrieve training, teaching Winston to pick up items for Peyton. Although not fully applicable, these skills were developed with Winston's well-being and natural demeanor in mind. I'm proud to share that Winston's training journey allowed him to fulfill his potential without compromising his playful nature. He remains a spirited and affectionate companion when off duty but seamlessly transitions into work mode when needed. If you're considering training a service dog for yourself or your family, I'd be delighted to assist you on this rewarding journey. |
Service dog for Tourettes syndrome
I've had the privilege of working with this incredible service dog puppy since the tender age of eight weeks. Destined to be a support for Tourette's, this remarkable pup is on a mission to help alleviate stress and fear in public spaces for its owner, who may need bracing during an attack or assistance with deep tissue therapy in moments of stress. The dog is also being trained to summon a family member during a medical emergency.
Teaching the owner the ins and outs of handling a service dog in public and refining the pup's behavior has been an immensely gratifying experience. The positive impact is evident as the owner now ventures out more frequently, engaging with new people effortlessly. Notably, the frequency of outbursts and attacks has significantly decreased. The dog's ability to redirect attention or provide essential support has proven invaluable. If someone dear to you could benefit from a service dog, I'm here to customize training to suit their unique needs. Together, we can embark on a journey to enhance their lives through the companionship and assistance of a specially trained service dog. |
Clients
Service dogs and those in training enjoy access to various public places, including restaurants, airplanes, hotels, theaters, and grocery stores. Federal guidelines focus on ensuring that a service dog doesn't pose a perceived threat to others in public spaces, rather than specifying a particular level of training.
At Artisan Dog Training, we take pride in our exclusive training program. Tailored to foster excellent socialization and reliable training, our program equips your dog not only to accompany you in public but also to provide a service that mitigates a disability. Our approach is disability-agnostic, leaving the specifics to you and your doctor. Our service dog training adheres to the principle that a properly trained service dog should not be denied access to public places, unless it poses a threat. Each program we offer is customized to the individual dog and its unique service requirements. We provide flexible programs, including one-on-one sessions with dog owners and programs where your dog undergoes training with us, and we teach you to maintain that training in the long run. Our commitment extends to a unique guarantee: if the original dog doesn't meet expectations, we offer a replacement and credit any expenses toward the new dog. This ensures your journey to acquiring a service dog remains successful, even if the initial dog doesn't work out. Artisan Dog Training has a rich history of providing service dogs and training for various needs, including PTSD, diabetes, hearing impairments, autism, mobility issues, and more. Our dedication is to empower individuals through the companionship and assistance of a trained service dog. |
