Frequently people can be led astray by good intentions but neutering does not solve problems. It's a pretty big surprise to many people when they pay big bucks to get a surgery and then they are left with essentially the same dog. They still pee in the house and fight with other dogs. The nearly manic behavior they exhibited is still evident and no-one understands why. I want to clarify by saying I completely support spay and neuter programs but when people are lied to or mislead about the effects or surgery is performed on an 8 week old puppy then I think it's for the wrong reasons. Some will tell you that it's healthier. Spay and neutered dogs tend to rate higher on a long list of illnesses than intact dogs. It will calm down my dog. Removing your dogs reproductive organs will not calm down most pets. Only training or age can do that. My dog will stop peeing , mounting , barking, get skinnier , stop trying to take over the world. All of these are just as likely to be helped only by training and understanding. Simply put , if you need to change your dog's behavior training is what's called for not a medical procedure. Thank you for reading this.
